HubSpot:
This automation is set to trigger whenever a new Contact is created that does not have an assigned owner. It will not overwrite ownership specified by an end user.
When the new Contact is created, the automation will first look to see if the Primary Associated Company has a Company Owner. If it does, the new Contact will be assigned to that Company owner. This helps maintain consistency at the Account level, allowing one person to own communications. This setting can be updated or removed if you do not want the Account Owner to also own newly created Contacts (e.g. if an AE owns the account but an SDR should own new contacts on creation).
If the Primary Associated Company does not have an owner, or if there is no Primary Associated Company, Contact Ownership will be assigned based on the logic you’ve defined. Some common criteria we’ve seen for contact assignment include:
Round Robin
Employee Count
Geography
Account Tiers
Please note - if you use a field at the Company level to assign ownership, the automation will only follow the logic if a Primary Associated Company is set. Otherwise, it will be routed to the default owner.
