If you need to upload data into Salesforce, you can start the process by importing the files directly into the Swantide app (https://app.swantide.com/transfer).
Currently, you are able to import Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities, and Lead data into the app. If you need to import other types of data, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager.
Recommendations when importing Historical Data:
Step One: determine what data that you want to import into fields in Salesforce
If you have any fields that you were tracking, but you don't want to continue to track in Salesforce, you should not import this data into Salesforce
Get aligned internally on what fields that you want to import and continue to track in Salesforce
Step Two: ensure all fields that you will be importing data into were created during your Onboarding check-list item for creating fields.
These fields should typically only be created on one object, so you should be sure to figure out which object the data should be imported into, please read our help article on creating fields and tips on how to determine which object fields should live on.
Here's some additional tips on importing data and which objects to include:
All verified data for People and Company's should be imported as Contacts and Accounts
The only data that should be imported as Leads should be messy data where you have not yet verified should be converted to a Contact/Account
Opportunities: When importing historical deals, at a minimum, we recommend importing all Closed Won Opportunities. If it's helpful to have Closed Lost information, you should import those Opportunities too. Lastly, you should import any Open Opportunities that fit into the stages that you have defined in Salesforce.
If you have Opportunities that aren't qualified to meet the stages that you have defined in Salesforce during Onboarding, we recommend just importing these as Accounts/Contacts to continue to work until the Opportunity is ready to be created in Salesforce.
File Cleanup & Recommendations:
When cleaning up your files, each column should represent a unique field
For cleanest transfer, we recommend labeling your columns with Object.Field Name so that when you go to map your columns to associated Salesforce fields, it will be less manual work to associate the fields.
Example: the fields I am importing include both Account and Contact Data
Account Name, Account Owner, Contact Name, Contact Owner
The column headers should read:
Account.Name, Account.Owner, Contact.Name, Contact.Owner
Formatting:
Date fields should be in MM/dd/yyy Format
User fields should have complete first and last name
Picklist fields should have values that match exactly the options in Salesforce
We recommend saving your file as a csv prior to importing and importing the csv version for ease of use
